Dr. Handa

ISPS HANDA's support for golf stems from a firm belief in the "power of sport". Sport has a unique ability to create hope, to break down educational and cultural barriers and to inspire people in a way that very little else does. Sport brings people together and unites communities around the world.

It is this belief that has led to Dr Handa's interest and philanthropic contribution in the sport, providing opportunities for blind and disabled golfers worldwide and on the foundation of their wider mission for golf to become a Paralympic sport.

In addition to supporting the many humanitarian and cultural programs illustrated on this site, Dr. Handa remains the Managing Director of B.C. Consulting Ltd and manages more than a dozen companies in Japan, Australia and the United Kingdom. He is also an active author, and has written more than 220 books that have been translated into seven languages. Some of the best sellers include "Secrets for running a Small Business", "Understanding Japan" and "Lucky Fortune", of which more than a million copies have been sold.

Dr Handa established the Japanese Blind Golf Association in 1988 and was the driving force behind the formation of the International Blind Golf Association (IBGA) in 1998. The IBGA was set up to better coordinate the efforts of blind golf associations around the world and has become the governing and sanctioning body for international blind golf events.

Niall Horan

This is the fourth year Niall Horan and Modest! Golf Management have been involved with the event and as integral stakeholders in the event they believe passionately about the ethos of the tournament and what it represents.

Since their inception Modest! Golf have always championed the women’s game. The boutique nature of their player management arm of the business means they are selective in who they sign and represent. In 2018 they signed Irish twins Lisa and Leona Maguire, two of Ireland’s finest players who have blazed a trail since they were teenagers.

Leona joined the paid ranks after reaching world number one in the Amateur World Rankings and has since gained her Ladies European Tour card at the first time of asking. They join a stable of European Tour players that includes the likes of England’s Jack Singh Brar, who secured his breakthrough win on the European Challenge Tour in 2018.

Horan and Modest! Golf are passionate about nurturing the next generation of players and are delighted to introduce the first Ladies’ and Men’s professional golf tournament in Europe.
